Strategem Bendigo Winemakers Festival draws a crowd

It was the perfect afternoon for a glass of wine under the sun in Rosalind Park for Bendigo’s annual winemakers festival

Bendigo Winegrowers Association president Wes Vine said the turnout was bigger than 2018, as word of mouth and repeat visitors were helping grow the event's profile.

“There were lots of familiar faces and it’s great to see people returning each year.

“We also had many people who travelled from Melbourne on the train to attend the festival.

“Bendigo’s weather was at its best with sunlight trickling through the trees in Rosalind Park,” said Wes.

With more than 1,000 people through the gates, this was a great opportunity for local Bendigo wineries to showcase their wines to a broad audience. There were 18 wineries from across the Bendigo region, showcasing 75 wines with everything from shiraz to sparkling wine.

The wine and food masterclass marquee was full, with patrons taken on a journey of wine and food matching with local hospitality gurus Finn Vedelsby and Kathie Bolitho.

Many patrons packed their picnic blankets and made themselves comfy on the lawn to enjoy the live music, local wines and great food from regional food stalls.

“The winemakers love the festival just as much as the attendees.

“It’s a celebration of the end of harvest and it’s great to see people enjoying the wines we create,” said Wes.

The annual Strategem Bendigo Winemakers Festival will be back in Rosalind Park in 2020. Join our mailing list for event announcements.
